ATCC®-formulated McCoy’s 5A Medium is a versatile, nutrient-rich cell culture medium originally developed to support the growth of human synovial cells. Its balanced composition makes it suitable for a broad range of cell types, including primary cells and established lines with moderate to high nutritional demands. McCoy’s 5A Medium is used in cancer research, particularly for culturing human colon carcinoma cell lines like ATCC’s HT-29 (ATCC HTB-38™), as well as other epithelial and fibroblast cells. Its robust formulation supports both adherent and suspension cultures.

Contains 1.5 mM L-glutamine and 2200 mg/L sodium bicarbonate. NOTE: This reduced level of sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3, 2.2 g/L) is intended for use in 5% CO₂ in air. Additional sodium bicarbonate may be required for use in incubators containing higher percentages of CO₂.
