BCG Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis Reference Panel
MP-51 ™
The BCG Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis Reference Panel consists of seven attenuated Mycobacterium tuberculosis variant bovis BCG strains engineered to carry clinically relevant drug-resistance mutations found in M. tuberculosis. Originally developed by McGill University researchers, these BSL-2 strains provide safe, biologically meaningful controls for TB diagnostic testing without the need to handle live BSL-3 M. tuberculosis.
The panel includes defined mutations associated with resistance or reduced susceptibility to rifampin, isoniazid, moxifloxacin, streptomycin, clofazimine, and bedaquiline. Ideal for assay development, verification, and quality control applications; this panel enables end-to-end evaluation of TB drug-resistance testing while improving laboratory safety and standardization.
