An authentic culture of the Leptospira interrogans serovar icterohaemorrhagiae RGA strain was submitted by CDC in 1986 and assigned ATCC 43642. Landon and Tang propose to replace ATCC 23581 with ATCC 43642 as the type strain of Leptospira interrogans in the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names; opinion pending.
