LGC and ATCC Announce African Distribution Agreement

News Release

Manassas, VA, United States

January 19, 2015

LGC and ATCC today announce the extension of their existing distribution agreement to cover specified countries on the continent of Africa. LGC is currently the exclusive distributor of ATCC products throughout Europe. This extension enables ATCC to take advantage of the expansion of LGC’s sales office network in South Africa following the acquisition of Industrial Analytical in 2011.

Euan O’Sullivan, Managing Director of the Standards Division at LGC, said, “LGC is delighted to extend to Africa the European agreement we have had with ATCC since 1999. LGC is committed to supporting the international scientific community by providing our partners and customers with solutions that enable them to deliver the highest quality analytical results. As a leading global producer and distributor of reference materials and proficiency testing (PT) programmes, LGC’s partnership with ATCC, the premier global biological materials resource and standards organization, is highly complementary. We are delighted to be extending this partnership, further enhancing our combined efforts to enable scientists in Africa and worldwide to reach their goals of delivering high quality science to their communities.”

“Providing global access to high-quality ATCC biomaterials supports our mission to collaborate with and support the science community,” stated Willem Folkerts, Vice President, Sales and Marketing at ATCC. “We are gratified that this new agreement with LGC enables researchers in approved countries in Africa to receive the ATCC biomaterials and support they need in a more efficient manner to carry out their important work.”

Via this African distribution agreement, customers will benefit from customer service, technical support, stocking, and dispatch in the same time zone. Customers in sub-Saharan Africa will be served by LGC’s South African base, Industrial Analytical, while customers in North and West Africa will be served from LGC’s European sales offices; thereby enabling more timely and efficient communication and delivery, and easier payment in local currencies.
