Precisely Quantitated Reference Materials for Microbial Quality Control Testing

MicroQuant™ is ATCC's new product line of precisely quantitated microbial reference materials designed for streamlining microbial quality control testing in biopharmaceutical products, cosmetics, food safety, and wastewater testing. This novel product suite was developed using an innovative cryopreservation technology to create stable, rapidly rehydrating pellets that deliver consistent quantitation and accurate, reproducible results. This product line enables simplified workflows, minimal handling, and quick turnaround times while adhering to strict quality standards. More importantly, MicroQuant™ satisfies the need for ISO 17034–accredited quantitative controls that support assay guidelines published by the US Pharmacopeia (USP) and comparable organizations. While similar quantitative products derived from ATCC strains exist on the market, these other materials are prepared within three passages and frequently require long preparation times, extensive handling, and low storage temperatures (-20°C). In contrast, MicroQuant™ controls are prepared from original ATCC source material, providing more confidence in strain identity and authentication. Further, MicroQuant™ controls demonstrate consistent lot-to-lot quantitation, immediate rehydration at room temperature, and stable storage at refrigeration temperatures (2-8°C)—addressing many of the key challenges faced by microbial testing laboratories. In this study, we unveil our latest data demonstrating the stability of MicroQuant™ following transportation and rehydration. We also showcase how MicroQuant™ compares to similar products on the market with regard to processing time, storage temperature, and stability.
