Bioremediation

A solution to pollution

The presence of hazardous substances in soil, water, and air may put community health at risk. Bioremediation may provide a possible solution. Bioremediation techniques utilize aerobic and anaerobic microbial species to reduce contamination by breaking down pollutants into less-toxic substances. Microbes are well known for their ability to break down a variety of organic compounds, and they have already demonstrated success in cleaning up pollutants such as crude oil, gasoline, pesticides, and sewage.

ATCC provides a variety of authenticated microbial strains with potential applications in bioremediation research. Explore our resources today!
