Over 1,000 new datasets generated every year

Meticulously curated cell line ‘omics data

ATCC has developed a standardized workflow for producing transcriptomics data from the authenticated cell lines within our collection. Our high-quality cell line 'omics data enable you to skip the time- and resource-intensive cell line characterization step while empowering the identification of data most relevant to your research. By taking the guesswork out of cell line selection, you can quickly and precisely plan and design your experiments with ease.

To make our curated transcriptomics data available to researchers, we’ve collaborated with QIAGEN to establish ATCC Cell Line Land. This unique and continually growing database contains transcriptomic (RNA-seq) and genomic (whole-exome sequencing) datasets derived from the most highly utilized human and mouse cell lines and primary tissues and cells in ATCC’s collection.

Why data provenance matters

Portrait of scientists smiling in laboratory iStock-1094849446.jpgTrusted and authenticated cell lines are the starting point for preclinical studies that help researchers understand the underlying mechanisms of normal and disease biology. However, the use of misidentified cell lines and inaccurate public datasets can adversely affect biomedical research, leading to false conclusions and non-reproducible data that can compound with each subsequent study.

For scientists to make insightful correlations that can translate to the development of life-saving therapeutics, it is essential that they start with high-quality, authenticated biological materials backed by curated, accurate 'omics data. That's why we developed a standardized workflow for generating high-quality 'omics data from our authenticated cell lines. By providing data provenance that is traceable, standardized, and authenticated to its original source, we are supporting scientific credibility and data reproducibility efforts.

Understand our approach

Our cell lines are cultured and sequenced under ISO-compliant conditions, so you can trust that the data are reliable and originate from authenticated materials. The resulting ‘omics datasets, along with their metadata, are then processed and curated using our uniform data processing and metadata curation standards. For each cell line, we carefully capture essential metadata such as standard culture conditions, extraction protocols, sample preparation, and NGS library preparation. These carefully curated metadata enable researchers to quickly and accurately identify unique traits across cell lines so they can easily find the data most relevant to their research.
