Karyotype This is a hypodiploid cell line of male origin with a chromosome number range of 38-40. The karyotype is highly rearranged and although there has been a loss of chromosome number, most of the cells still contain several of the derivative chromosomes originally described in the literature. Specifically, the t(11;14) derivative common to mantle cell lymphoma is present in a complex rearrangement with chromosome number 6, der(6)t(6;14;11)(q13;q11.2?;q23?) and was confirmed with whole chromosome paint probes for chromosomes 11 and 14. Other derivatives include add(1)(p36.1), add(4)(q31) and del(11)(q13).

Complete Growth Medium The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated RPMI-1640 Medium, Catalog No. 30-2001. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 10%.
Subculturing

Cultures can be maintained by the addition of fresh medium. Alternatively, cultures can be established by centrifugation with subsequent resuspension at 3 X 105 to 5 X 105 viable cells/mL. Do not allow the cell concentration to exceed 2 X 106 cells/mL.

Subcultivation ratio: A subcultivation ratio of 1:3 to 1:5 is recommended

Medium renewal: every 2 to 3 days depending on cell density

Freeze medium: complete growth medium supplemented with an additional 10% fetal bovine serum and 10% (v/v) DMSO
Storage temperature: liquid nitrogen vapor phase
