SV40-T302-1 was isolated in CV-1 cells (ATCC CCL-70) from the brain of an SIV-infected juvenile Rhesus monkey. This is a clone of a unique brain isolate of SV40 (slowest growing SV40 natural isolate encountered at time of deposit.)

Brain tissue was minced in PBS, freeze-thawed three times to lyse the cells, then passed through a 0.45 mm filter. The filtrate was used to inoculate ATCC CV-1 cells (passage 34). The viral regulatory region of this construct is archetypal.
