Derivation Animals were immunized with cells from human tonsils. Spleen cells were fused with P3X63Ag8 myeloma cells.

Comments The antibody reacts with monomorphic determinants on HLA A,B,C molecules. The antibody is cytotoxic. The antibody cross-reacts with ape, monkey and cow cells. It does not react with rabbit cells. Tested and found negative for ectromelia virus (mousepox).
Complete Growth Medium The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated Dulbecco's Modified Eagle's Medium, Catalog No. 30-2002. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 10%.
Subculturing
Cultures can be maintained by addition or replacement of fresh medium. Start cultures at 2 x 105 cells/mL and maintain between 1 x 105 and 1 x 106 cells/mL. 

Medium Renewal: Every 2 to 3 days

95% FBS ; 5% DMSO. Cell culture tested DMSO is available as ATCC Catalog No. 4-X.
