The VS1742 isolate was collected from the feces of a 3 1/2 year old heifer near Caldwell, Idaho. Viable oocysts (average: 8.38 x 6.19 um) were purified from feces on CsCl gradient then surface sterilized with 10% Clorox prior to nucleic acid extraction.
