High sporulation strains (BK1)
SK-1 sporulates constitutively; asci will re-diploidize to give back the SK-1 strain. Use fresh, log-phase mitotic cultures for starting sporulation experiments. Occasional sporulation-defective variants arise on plates; these can be avoided by checking single colonies for sporulation ability.
