Shelf-life and expiration date of freeze dried cultures
What is the shelf-life of freeze dried microbial cultures?

ATCC ships freeze dried microbial cultures in two different containers: batch vials and serum vials. The batch vials are double flame-sealed glass vials. When properly stored at 2-8°C, freeze dried cultures in batch vials do not have an expiration date. Serum vials are glass vials capped with butyl rubber stoppers. The shelf-life for freeze dried cultures stored in serum vials is usually five years from the date of manufacture.
