ATCC has designed a number of tumor cell panels to facilitate basic and translational cancer research. There are mainly two kinds of tumor cell panels that composed either by tissue type or by molecular signature. Tumor cell panels by tissue type are cell line panels based on the tissue of tumor origin, and each cell line within the panels has been annotated with mutations - enabling more intelligent choices when selecting disease-based research models. Tumor cell panels by molecular signature are cell line panels focused on cancer genes or key component of cell signaling pathways, and each cell line within the molecular signature panels has been in-house validated for specific gene mutations, gene expression and protein expression and cell functionalities. These panels provide powerful tools for cancer research and drug discovery.
