Morphology of ATCC® HTB-129

Initially, my ATCC® HTB-129 ™, MDA-MB-435S cells demonstrated the typical, spindle-shaped morphology of the cell line. However, after subsequent passages, I have found more rounded cells that grow in clumps in the culture. Which morphology is correct?

It is normal to observe a small number of viable, round cells or small clusters of cells that loosely adhere to the attached population of ATCC® HTB-129 ™, MDA-MB-435S cells. Attached cells appear spindle-shaped, especially so at low levels of confluence. If the cells are allowed to grow to confluence, it is normal to also observe a few, flattened giant-cells.
