This product is a preparation of viral nucleic acids, including virus genomic RNA, in total RNA isolated from HEp-2 cells (ATCC CCL-23) infected with Human respiratory syncytial virus (HRSV) strain A2 (ATCC VR-1540). It is suitable for use in reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) for viral gene products and other molecular virology applications.

Quality Control Specifications
  1. Integrity is inferred from observation of intact RT-PCR product on a 1.2% agarose gel, visualized by ethidium bromide staining.
  2. Functional activity is demonstrated by RT-PCR amplification of ≥ 500 bp amplicon dilutable ≥ 10 fold.
  3. Identity is confirmed by sequence analysis of the RT-PCR amplicon.
  4. Virus inactivation is verified by the incubation of 10% of total yield on susceptible host cells followed by evaluation for cytopathic effect.
