This medium is recommended for the axenic cultivation of small, free-living amoebae, including Hartmannella, Naegleria, Willaertia, Vahlkampfia, Capsaspora, Nuclearia; the trypanosomatids Crithidia, Blastocrithidia, Herpetomonas, Leptomonas, Phytomonas; and certain ciliates such as Tetrahymena, Dexiostoma, and Glaucoma.
