Potential bacteremia therapeutic agent
This is one of six bacteriophage strains deposited at the ATCC (ATCC® 97537™-97539™ are lambda strains and ATCC® 97540™-97542™ are P22 strains) that remain in the mouse circulatory system for long periods of time. They are potential therapeutic agents for bacteremias.

Comments
There is a G->A transition at nucleotide 6606 of the lambda capsid E major head protein gene in Argo2. This results in a lysine(basic) to glutamate(acidic) substitution. There is also an undetermined mutation in the capsid D major head protein gene.
To recover bacteriophage, adsorb lysate for 18 minutes at 37°C to an overnight culture of Escherichia coli MG1655. Plate the adsorbtion mixture onto LB agar plates, and then incubate overnight at 37°C.
