Comments
S. aureus strains were predominantly from bovine sources.
The highly divergent nature of SCCmec XI relative to other SCCmec elements indicates that it may have originated in another taxon.
SCCmec XI was identified in this CC130 MRSA isolate by PCR and sequencing. The CC130 MRSA isolates may be of animal origin as previously reported CC130.
Note: The isolate was identified as methicillin-susceptible S. aureus using the GeneXpert real-time PCR assay, which is incorrect!
Absence of pvl gene confirmed by PCR.
Name of Depositor D Coleman
Isolation
Isolated from a 64-year old female in-patient in an acute care hospital in Dublin, Ireland, February 2010.
Year of Origin 2010
