Comments

The cells can be propagated in spinner cultures or in static cultures.

The amounts of stored and released somatostatin can be increased 2 to 3 fold by treatment for 4 days with 1 micromolar 5-bromo-2'-deoxyuridine.

Tested and found negative for ectromelia virus (mousepox).

Subculturing

Cultures can be maintained by addition or replacement of fresh medium. Start cultures at 2 X 105 cells/mL and maintain between 1 X 105 and 3 X 106 cells/mL. Cell clumps should be dispersed using a small bore pipette.
