Derivation
MYA-1 is a T lymphoblastoid cell line that was established from blood mononuclear cells from a specific pathogen-free cat in 1988.

Comments

The cells are interleukin-2 (Il-2) dependent. They are positive for IL-2 receptor, feline CD3, feline CD4 and major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II antigen. They are negative for feline CD8.

Complete Growth Medium RPMI 1640 medium with 2 mM L-glutamine adjusted to contain 1.5 g/L sodium bicarbonate, 4.5 g/L glucose, 10 mM HEPES, and 1.0 mM sodium pyruvate and supplemented with 0.05 mM 2-mercaptoethanol, 100 units/ml recombinant human IL-2 and 10% fetal bovine serum
Subculturing Cultures can be maintained by the addition of fresh medium or replacement of medium. Alternatively, cultures can be established by centrifugation with subsequent resuspension at 1 to 2 x 105 viable cells/mL. Maintain cell density between 1 x 105 and 1 x 106 viable cells/mL. Do not allow the cell concentration to exceed 1 x 106 cells/mL.
Medium Renewal: Every 2 to 3 days
