Reproductive Cancer

The American Cancer Society estimates that approximately 29,590 women in the United States in 2018 will die from cancer of the reproductive system. These cancers can be divided into cervical, endometrial, and ovarian. To support research on these diseases, ATCC houses representatives of gynecological cancers from human and animal donors. We have also organized selected cell lines into Gynecological Cancer Cell Panels for high-throughput screening of chemotherapeutics. In addition, to support the researcher’s need for physiological controls for tumor cells ATCC provides human primary and hTERT-immortalized cells.

Cervical Cancer

The cervix is sensitive to infection by human papillomaviruses (HPV), which can lead to cellular alterations resulting in cancer. For example, HeLa, the first cell line to successfully be cultured continuously, is positive for HPV. ATCC has 26 cervical cell lines to support your research needs; explore the collection today!

Uterine/Endometrial Cancer

Endometrial cancers arise from the innermost layer of the uterus. These cancers are the most commonly diagnosed among reproductive cancers. While this cancer is usually detected and treated early, it has been correlated with taking hormone therapy for breast cancer. Browse our collection of human and bovine uterine cells.

Ovarian Cancer

Because ovarian cancer is notoriously difficult to detect, it stands highest in mortality among cancers of the female reproductive system. To help researchers investigate this killer, ATCC provides ovarian cell lines, representing the normal and diseased tissues of multiple species.
