This is a culture of DH82 (see ATCC CRL-10389) that is chronically infected with Ehrlicia canis (Oklahoma isolate).
Do not culture in the presence of antibiotics.
Complete Growth Medium Minimum essential medium (Eagle) in Earle's BSS with 2 mM L-glutamine, 85%; heat-inactivated fetal bovine serum, 15%
Subculturing
Subcultivation Ratio: Plate 1 X 10 exp6 viable cells per 100 mm culture dish or 75 sq. cm. flask
Medium Renewal: 1 to 2 times per week
Remove medium, add fresh 0.25% trypsin-0.02% EDTA for several minutes, remove trypsin and let the culture sit at 37C for 10 to 15 minutes. Add fresh medium, aspirate and dispense into new flasks. Subculture every 4 to 7 days.
