Tumors developed within 21 days at 100% frequency (5/5) in nude mice inoculated subcutaneously with 10(7) cells. 

Comments

A subclone of this line [see ATCC TIB-63, P388D1(IL-1)] produces high levels of interleukin-1 (IL-1, interleukin 1). Tested and found negative for ectromelia virus (mousepox).

Complete Growth Medium The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated Dulbecco's Modified Eagle's Medium, Catalog No. 30-2002. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: horse serum to a final concentration of 10%.
Subculturing
Cultures can be maintained by addition of fresh medium or replacement of medium. Alternatively, cultures can be established by centrifugation with subsequent resuspension in fresh medium at 2 - 5 x 105 viable cells/mL.
A maximum of 6 x 106 viable cells/mL is obtainable.
Medium Renewal: Every 2 to 3 days
