Applications
Isolate of Feline Immunodeficiency Virus which is highly infectious in vivo and produces a rapid inversion of the CD4+/CD8+ receptor ratio in infected cats.
Pretreat host cells with DEAE-dextran (25ug/ml).

Comments This item is highly infectious in vivo and produces a rapid inversion of the CD4+/CD8+ receptor ratio in infected cats. Viral reverse transcriptase is Mg-dependent.

Growth Conditions Temperature: 37°C

Recommendations for Infection: Pretreat host cells with 25 ug/mL DEAE-dextran for 30 minutes at room temperature. Inoculate with virus diluted to provide an optimal MOI (e.g. 0.1). Adsorb 1 hour at 37°C in a humidified 5% CO2 atmosphere, gently vortexing every 15 minutes. Plate cells overnight at 37°C in a humidified 5% CO2 atmosphere. Wash cells and add fresh VGM.
