Karyotype
modal number = 61; range = 55 to 64. This is a hypotriploid human cell line. The modal chromosome number is 61, occurring in 28% of cells. The rate of higher ploidies is 1.2%. Twelve marker chromosomes are common in these cells. These include t(7q,16q), t(5p,7p), t(4q,9q) and 9 others. A large number of DM's is found in every cell. The N21 is absent; and N9, N11, N13, N20, N22 and X are single-copied. No Y chromosome was detected in the Q-banded slide preparation.

Derivation
This line was derived from cells present in ascites fluid obtained from a patient after treatment with 5-fluorouracil.

Comments
The cells contain Dopa decarboxylase and, unlike other colorectal lines, contain cytoplasmic dense core granules characteristic of endocrine secretion.
The cells do not express the TAG-72 or CA19-9 antigens nor do they produce carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA).
