Organism Rattus norvegicus, rat
Tissue
spleen
Cell Type hybridoma: B lymphoblast
Product Format frozen
Morphology lymphoblast
Culture Properties suspension
Biosafety Level 1
Applications
Tested and found negative for ectromelia virus (mousepox).
The cells are resistant to 8-azaguanine, are HAT sensitive and can be used as a fusion partner for rat B cells to make rat - rat hybridomas.
The cells do not secrete either heavy or light immunoglobulin chains.
This line was produced by fusing Y3/Ag1.2.3 (ATCC CRL-1631) cells with spleen cells from an AO strain rat.
Derivation
This line was produced by fusing Y3/Ag1.2.3 (ATCC CRL-1631) cells with spleen cells from an AO strain rat.

Complete Growth Medium The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated Dulbecco's Modified Eagle's Medium, Catalog No. 30-2002. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 10%.
Subculturing
Medium Renewal: Every 2 to 3 days
Cultures are maintained by addition or replacement of fresh medium. Start new cultures at 1 X 10 exp5 viable cells/ml and maintain at or below 1 X 10 exp6 cells/ml.
