Comments
Derived by adaptation of primary cell culture product ATCC VR-954 to MA104.1 (ATCC CRL-2378.1) cells. (Note: ATCC VR-954 and ATCC VR-1739 have not been compared with respect to sequence or infectivity in primary cell culture and tissue culture).
Effect on Host

CPE in the form of refractile, rounded cells throughout monolayer or in loose clusters.
Recommended Host
Production Host: MA104.1 (ATCC CRL-2378.1)

Recommended Host:  MA104.1 (ATCC® CRL-2378.1™)

Alternate Hosts: BS-C-1 (ATCC CCL-26), Rhesus embryonic monkey kidney cells, Primary cynomolgus monkey kidney cells
Growth Conditions
For best results, plate cells 24-48 hours in advance. Infect at 80%-90% confluent, not 100% confluent. Remove medium and inoculate with a small volume of virus diluted to provide a MOI of about 0.1. Adsorb 1 hour at 37.0°C in a humidified 5% CO2 atmosphere, rocking every 20-30 minutes to redistribute inoculum. End adsorption by adding virus growth medium. Incubate at 37.0°C in a humidified, 5% CO2 atmosphere for 2-3 days, until CPE are well advanced in 100% of the culture. In TC, ATCC VR-1739 should be grown in serum free media that contains 2.0µg/ml trypsin.
Effect on Host
