    Applications:

    L-glutamine (200 mM solution in 0.85% NaCl) is an essential amino acid required by virtually all mammalian and insect cells grown in culture. L‑alanyl-L-glutamine can be used as a direct substitute for L-glutamine at equimolar concentrations (2 to 4 mM for most applications). Whereas L-glutamine is labile in cell culture medium and its degradation results in a deleterious build-up of ammonia, the L-alanyl-L-glutamine dipeptide is very stable with minimal ammonia production. Once inside the cell, the dipeptide is split by aminopeptidases into L-alanine and L-glutamine.
