Permits and Restrictions

View Permits

Organism Mus musculus, mouse
Cell Type B lymphocyte
Product Format frozen
Morphology lymphoblast
Culture Properties suspension
Biosafety Level 1
Disease plasmacytoma; myeloma
Strain BALB/c
Storage Conditions liquid nitrogen vapor phase
Derivation
This line was established from the MOPC 315 plasmacytoma (induced with mineral oil in a BALB/c mouse).
Antigen Expression
H-2d
Genes Expressed
immunoglobulin; monoclonal antibody; against DNP and TNP substituted proteins
Comments

The cells are killed by 10 nM dexamethasone.

Initial recovery from the frozen state is slow, and approximately 7 to 10 days are required before any noticeable cell growth occurs.

Tested and found negative for ectromelia virus (mousepox).
Complete Growth Medium The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated Dulbecco's Modified Eagle's Medium, Catalog No. 30-2002. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 10%.
Subculturing

Cultures can be maintained by addition or replacement of fresh medium. Start cultures at 2 x 105 cells/mL and maintain between 1 x 105 and 1 x 106 viable cells/mL.

Medium Renewal: Every 2 to 3 days
Cryopreservation

Complete culture medium described above supplemented with 5% (v/v) DMSO. Cell culture tested DMSO is available as ATCC Catalog No. 4-X.

Culture Conditions Temperature: 37°C
Atmosphere: 5% CO2
Isotype IgA; lambda 2 light chain
Name of Depositor M Cohn
