Produces corn with uniform large, bright yellow kernels and very hard endosperm, but with very little white floury starch. The kernels contain at least 10.5% crude protein and 0.31% lysine based on 12% kernel moisture.
Hybrids with WIL500 have a significantly higher lysine content than generic corn.
Demonstrated a distinct advantage as a feed grain; chicks fed a WIL500 hybrid gained 117 grams and 70 grams more than birds fed generic corn and grain sorghum diets, respectively.
