Derivation This line was derived from the X-ray resistant L5178-R line (ATCC CRL-1722).

The parental cell line was derived from the L5178 thymic lymphoma induced by methylcholanthrene in a DBA/2 mouse.

Effects
Yes, in DBA/2 mice (but only weakly).
Comments The cells are sensitive to X-rays, ultraviolet radiation, heat and some potential anti neoplastic drugs (e.g., cis-PAD).
Complete Growth Medium Fischer's medium with 0.1 g/L sodium pyruvate and 1.125 sodium bicarbonate, 90%; horse serum, 10%
Subculturing Cultures can be maintained by addition or replacement of fresh medium. Start cultures at 1 x 104 cells/mL and maintain between 5 x 103 and 7 x 105 cells/mL.
Medium Renewal: Every 2 to 3 days
