Comments
The cells do not express HLA-DR, HLA-DQ, IgM , IgD or T cell rantigen receptor.
Exposure of DB cells to phorbol esters (PMA or PdBu) that activate protein kinase C results in profound growth inhibition.
They are reported to be negative for the Epstein-Barr virus genome.
The cells were cured of a prior mycoplasma contamination by a 21 day treatment with BM-cycline.
Complete Growth Medium The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated RPMI-1640 Medium, Catalog No. 30-2001. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 10%.
Subculturing
Protocol: Cultures can be maintained by addition or replacement of fresh medium. Start cultures at 5 to 8 X 105 cells/mL and maintain between 5 X 105 and 2 X 106 cells/mL.
Medium Renewal: Every 2 to 3 days
