Derivation
The P3HR-1 line is a clonally derived subline of Jiyoye (ATCC CCL-87) which yielded up to 50-85% immunofluorescent positive cells when stained with selected human sera.

Effects Yes, in nude mice; forms undifferentiated malignant lymphoma consistent with Burkitt's lymphoma
Comments
Herpes type virus particles (Epstein-Barr virus) were observed in as many as 78% of the cells examined with the electron microscope and a good correlation between presence of viral particles and immunofluorescence was obtained.
Complete Growth Medium RPMI 1640 medium, 80%; heat-inactivated fetal bovine serum, 20%
Subculturing Cultures can be maintained by addition of fresh medium. Alternatively, cultures can be established by centrifugation with subsequent resuspension at 3 x 105 viable cells/mL. Maintain cultures at a cell concentration between 4 x 105 and 1 x 106 cells/mL.
