Derivation
Mice (BALB/c) were immunized with purified Mac1 (CD11b/CD18). Spleen cells were fused with P3X63Ag8.653 (ATCC CRL-1580). Monoclonal antibodies from selected hybridomas recognized the Mac-1 alpha subunits on the surface of neutrophils. [Pubmed: 7679388] The monoclonal antibodies produced by these hybridomas will be useful in determining the function of Mac-1 subregions involved in ligand recognition. [Pubmed: 9614126].
Comments

Complete Growth Medium The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated Dulbecco's Modified Eagle's Medium, Catalog No. 30-2002. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 20%.
Subculturing
Protocol: Cultures can be maintained by addition of fresh medium. Alternatively, cultures can be established by centrifugation with subsequent resuspension at 1 X 10(4) to 1 X 10(5) viable cells/ ml. Maintain cultures at a cell concentration between 2 X 10(5) and 1 X 10(6) cells/ml.

Freeze medium: Complete growth medium supplemented with 5% (v/v) DMSO
