Derivation
Animals were immunized with purified mouse colony stimulating factor-1 (CSF-1). Spleen cells were fused with Y3-Ag.1.2.3 myeloma cells. The D24 (ATCC CRL-2701) antibody binds to mouse CSF-1 but does not neutralize its biological activity, while the 5A1 (ATCC CRL-2702) antibody binds to and neutralizes the biological function of CSF-1 [PubMed: 2454994]. The D24 antibody (ATCC CRL-2701) can be used with the 5A1 antibody (ATCC CRL-2702) in ELISA assays to quantitate the amount of naturally occurring mouse CSF-1 [PubMed: 2677146]. These antibodies recognize different epitopes of the same antigen, thereby permitting the detection of low amounts of CSF-1 [PubMed: 2677146].

Subculturing
Protocol: Cultures can be maintained by the addition of fresh medium or replacement of medium. Alternatively, cultures can be established by centrifugation with subsequent resuspension at 1 to 2 X 10(5) viable cells/ml.
Interval: Maintain cell density between 2 X 10(5) and 1 X 10(6) viable cells/ml.
Medium Renewal: Add fresh medium every 2 to 3 days (depending on cell density)
