Applications
The antibody immunoprecipitates p30, binds efficiently to S. aureus protein A, and works well in Western blotting assays for p30. The antibody reacts with the p30 group antigen (gag) from most MuLV.

Derivation
Animals were immunized with spleen focus forming virus (SFFV) infected nonproducer normal rat kidney (NRK) cells in complete Freund's adjuvant. Spleen cells were fused with NS-1 myeloma cells.

Complete Growth Medium The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated RPMI-1640 Medium, Catalog No. 30-2001. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium:
  • fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 10%
  • 0.05 mM 2-mercaptoethanol

Subculturing
Cultures can be maintained by addition or replacement of fresh medium. Start cultures at 2 X 105 cells/mL and maintain between 1 X 105 and 1 X 106 cells/mL.
Medium Renewal: Every 2 to 3 days
Cryopreservation
Freeze medium: Complete growth medium supplemented with 5% (v/v) DMSO
Storage temperature: liquid nitrogen vapor phase
