Medium ATCC® Medium 802: Sonneborn's Paramecium medium
Growth Conditions
Temperature: 25.0°C
Duration: grown with Enterobacter aerogenes ATCC 13048 and mixed bacteria
Protocol: Once the culture is established, the cysts will excyst and the trophozoites will comsume the bacteria in the medium. When the bacterial numbers have been reduced below a certain level, the Cercomonas will once again encyst. The cysts are stabile for at least 1-2 months. Subculture by detaching the cysts from the surface of the flask with a sterile cell scrapper, agitate, and aseptically transfer a 0.1-ml aliquot to a fresh flask containing 10 ml of bacterized medium 802.
Subcultivation
