Karyotype The cells have a characteristic chromosomal abnormality, t(4;11)(q21;q23), and an isochromosome for the long arm of chromosome 7.
Derivation
This line was established from the bone marrow of a patient with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Comments The cells lack surface and cytoplasmic immunoglobulin, and are negative for CALLA (CD10).

The cells are also negative for myeloperoxidase and chloroacetate esterase and do not stain with Sudan Black. The cells are strongly positive for terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT) and are positive for BA-1 (CD24), BA-2 (CD9) and MHC Class II antigens (HLA DR).

 

Complete Growth Medium The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated RPMI-1640 Medium, Catalog No. 30-2001. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 10%.
Subculturing
Cultures can be maintained by the addition of fresh medium or replacement of medium. Alternatively, cultures can be established by centrifugation with subsequent resuspension at 1 X 105 viable cells/mL. Maintain cell density between 1 X 105 and 1 X 106 viable cells/mL.
Medium Renewal: Every 2 to 3 days
