Applications
The antibody binds to those neuronal AChR that have high affinity for nicotine and no affinity for alpha bungarotoxin.
It binds to the structural subunit of neuronal AChR of chickens and rats but not those of humans.
Tested and found negative for ectromelia virus (mousepox).
Derivation
Animals were immunized with immunoaffinity purified chicken neuronal (nicotinic) acetylcholine receptors (AChR).
Spleen cells were fused with S194/5.XX0.BU.1 myeloma cells.

It does not bind to AChR from muscle, and does not inhibit ligand binding.
Tested and found negative for ectromelia virus (mousepox).
Complete Growth Medium The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated Dulbecco's Modified Eagle's Medium, Catalog No. 30-2002. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 10%.
Subculturing
Medium Renewal: Every 2 to 3 days
Cultures can be maintained by addition or replacement of fresh medium. Start cultures at 2 X 10 exp5 cells/ml and maintain between 1 X 10 exp5 and 1 X 10 exp6 cells/ml.
