A cell line derived from a lymph node metastasis of a lung adenocarcinoma (see ATCC CRL-5922).
Comments

NCI-BL2087 shows instability at STR locus D5S818 # 13, some batches of cells exhibit loss of heterozygosity (LOH).

ATCC confirmed this cell line tested positive for the presence of Epstein-Barr viral DNA sequences via PCR.

Complete Growth Medium The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated RPMI-1640 Medium, Catalog No. 30-2001. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 10%.
Subculturing
Cultures can be maintained by addition of fresh medium or replacement of medium. Alternatively, cultures can be established by centrifugation with subsequent resuspension in fresh medium at 3 to 5 x 105 viable cells/mL. Maintain cultures at a cell concentration between 3 x 105 and 2 x 106 cells/mL.
Medium Renewal: Add fresh medium every 2 to 3 days (depending on cell density)
Cryopreservation
Culture medium, 95%; DMSO, 5%. Cell culture tested DMSO is available as ATCC Catalog No. 4-X.
