Reporter plasmid for analysis of enhancer sequences in vertebrate cells, using the herpes simplex virus (HSV) thymidine kinase promoter to drive expression of the CAT reporter gene.
Constructed from pBLCAT2 (ATCC 37527) by deletion of a 467 bp fragment immediately upstream of the 5' polylinker and replacement by two fragments, each containing the polyadenylation signal of the SV40 large T gene.
The order of the major features in the plasmid is: two SV40 polyadenylation signals - HindIII/MCS/BamHI - HSV tk promoter - cat - SV40 small T splice signal - SV40 polyadenylation signal - ClaI/MCS/SstI - pMB1 ori - ampR.
