ATCC's Mycology Collection houses over 27,000 strains of filamentous fungi and yeasts distributed among 1,500 genera and 7,000 species. More than 2,000 genetic strains of  S.cerevisiae and other yeasts are included within the fungi and yeast collection.

Strains from the ATCC Mycology Collection are useful in a variety of research and industrial applications.  Quality control organisms for commercial identification systems and genomic DNA from fungi and yeast — suitable for amplification by PCR are included in the mycology colletion.
