Permits/Forms: In addition to the MTA mentioned above, other ATCC and/or regulatory permits may be required for the transfer of this ATCC material. Anyone purchasing ATCC material is ultimately responsible for obtaining the permits. Please click here for information regarding the specific requirements for shipment to your location.
Tumorigenic: Yes
Antigen Expression: H-2d
Comments: Animals were immunized with 8 day chick embryo retina cells.
Spleen cells were fused with P3X63Ag8 myeloma cells.
In the rat, A2B5 reacts with gangliosides expressed in brain, pituitary, pancreatic islets, thymic endocrine epithelium, kidney glomeruli and the adrenal medulla.
Increasing expression of the A2B5 reactive ganglioside correlates with increasing degree of differentiation of rat insulinoma cells (RIN5F).
Tested and found negative for ectromelia virus (mousepox).
This line was formerly designated ATCC HB-29.
Propagation: ATCC complete growth medium: The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated Dulbecco's Modified Eagle's Medium, Catalog No. 30-2002. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 10%.
Subculturing: Medium Renewal: Every 2 to 3 days
Cultures can be maintained by addition or replacement of fresh medium. Start new cultures at 1 X 10 exp5 viable cells/ml and maintain the cell concentration between 1 X 10 exp5 and 1 X 10 exp6 cells/ml.
